From 1848 until 1991 the majestic Historic Rustburg Courthouse served as the seat of justice for Campbell County. Now this architectural landmark has a new life as a historic showpiece and an educational center.

The classic courtroom, centerpiece of the Historic Courthouse Museum, offers an elegant venue for local events, with companion rooms serving as a ‘step back in time’ museum, gift shop, and genealogical resource room.

The impressive Historic Courthouse Museum is managed by the Campbell County Historic Society, a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Campbell County’s rich history. Since February 2013, the building and grounds have undergone numerous renovations. Restored columns and a new cupola, an elevator and updated HVAC, fresh paint and flooring, new sidewalks and extensive landscaping — the grand old Courthouse stands ready to welcome you.

The museum is staffed by Historical Society members and volunteers every Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm to offer tours of our nine exhibit rooms or to research familial/local history.
